Sometimes the best art comes out of a journey.\u00a0 Before writing and recording his latest album,\u00a0Come On Down<\/em><\/strong>, Gogo took a pilgrimage along the Blues Trail starting in Memphis and traveling through Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama.\u00a0 Highlights of his southern adventure included sitting in with local musicians at The Shack Up Inn, Ground Zero, and Red\u2019s in Clarksdale, Mississippi.\u00a0 He appeared as a guest on Sonny Payne\u2019s renowned\u00a0King Biscuit Radio Hour<\/em>, and toured the legendary Fame, Sun, Stax, and Willie Mitchell\u2019s Royal Studios.\u00a0 Gogo also traveled to towns mentioned in Robert Johnson songs, poured bourbon on Johnson\u2019s grave, and even went down to Rosedale with his rider by his side, as those famous\u00a0Crossroads<\/em>\u00a0lyrics proclaim.<\/p>\n

Inspired by his journey through the birthplace of the blues, Gogo wrote six original tunes and combined them with six reinvented yet classic covers to create a new album that not only honours traditional blues but also gets you dancing with some good old gritty rock and roll.\u00a0\u00a0Come On Down<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0takes you to a place where Robert Johnson meets the Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac meets Ray Charles.\u00a0 It\u2019s a wild ride that Gogo navigates with ease, ingenuity and style (complete tracklisting below).<\/p>\n

Throughout his career, David has earned four JUNO nominations, the 2012 Western Canadian Music Award for Blues Recording of the Year, the CBC Saturday Night Blues\u2019 Great Canadian Blues Award for a lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada, and has twice been named Maple Blues Guitarist of the Year.\u00a0 He has played on stage with\u00a0Johnny Winter, Otis Rush, Albert Collins,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Bo Diddley<\/strong>\u00a0and has opened for\u00a0George Thorogood, ZZ Top, The Tragically Hip, Buddy Guy, Little Feat\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Jimmy Vaughan.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0In March 2013, he performed as the supporting act for blues legend\u00a0B.B. King<\/strong>\u00a0for the third time in his career, this time at the Port Theatre in Gogo\u2019s hometown of Nanaimo, BC.<\/p>\n

Gogo has released thirteen albums to date and he has been a guest on a number of recordings.\u00a0 He has composed music for television and major motion pictures and his songs have been performed and recorded by musicians worldwide.\u00a0 He continues to tour relentlessly, performing across North America and Europe in venues ranging from small blues bars to massive blues festivals.\u00a0 Whether he\u2019s showcasing his blistering guitar licks and soulful vocals during an electric performance or drawing the crowd in with his humour and down-to-earth personality during an acoustic show, audiences everywhere can attest to Gogo\u2019s outstanding talent.<\/p>\n
