Formed in the early seventies, The Cooper Brothers (Brothers Brian and Dick) are best known as one of Canada’s premier country rock bands. From their humble beginnings in Ottawa in the early 70’s, to touring with such legends as The Allman Brothers, the band’s eclectic blend of rock, country and rhythm and blues has cemented their place in the annals of popular music.

Signed to the legendary Capricorn Records in 1978, The Cooper Brothers gained international attention and toured with such renowned acts as the Doobie Brothers, Joe Cocker and Charlie Daniels amongst many others. Their debut release, simply titled “The Cooper Brothers” garnered rave reviews right across the U.S., inspiring a radio DJ in Atlanta to say “Hot damn! The Eagles are dead…..long live the Cooper Brothers.”

With such classic hits as “The Dream Never Dies”, “Rock and Roll Cowboys”, “Show Some Emotion” and “I’ll Know Her When I See Her”, The Cooper Brothers took command of the radio airways throughout North America, with three singles cracking Billboard’s Hot 100. “The Dream Never Dies” went on to become one of the most played songs on U.S. radio in 1980 and earned an ASCAP Award as such. At home in Canada, the band was voted “Best New Group” in 1978, “Best MOR Group” in 1979 and “Best Overall Group” in 1980 by the Canadian Contemporary Music Programmers.

The Cooper Brothers new “Best Of” Cd including all of their hits and some lesser known gems was released last year on Pacemaker Records/EMI to great response and enthusiasm from fans and media alike.

The current line up sees Brian and Dick Cooper joined by their friend and former producer Les Emmerson (Five Man Electrical Band) on guitar and vocals, Steve Hollingsworth (Kim Mitchell) on drums and vocals, keyboardist Ed Bim and Brian Sim on guitar and vocals.
