Becky Abbott – Singer Makes Headline Debut With Rock Band

TUCSON’S
SATURDAY, MARCH 22 at 8:00 p.m.

Ottawa, ON – Up and coming rock/pop singer Becky Abbott makes her first headline appearance with her new band at Tucson’s (2440 Bank St.) on Saturday, March 22 at 8:00 Pm.

The Ottawa singer created a serious buzz around town with her spirited performance last month at Barrymore’s as part of a sold out show with the legendary Cooper Brothers. With a stage presence reminiscent of Tina Turner, Becky Abbott is often stylistically compared to Sheryl Crow, Nikka Costa and The Black Crowes.

Abbott is hard at work on her debut release and has received dozens of top notch songs to consider from some of the best songwriters in the business from Nashville, Toronto and LA, including; Dean McTaggart (“Darkhorse”/Amanda Marshall), Tom Hambridge (“Rock Me Right”/Susan Tedeschi), Anders Osborne (“Watch The Wind Blow By/#1 for Tim McGraw) and Christopher Ward (“Black Velvet”/Alannah Myles). She is also developing her natural skills as a songwriter and recently did some co-writing with Canadian tunesmith Tom Wilson (Blackie & The Rodeo Kings/Junkhouse), who took time out from his sessions with Colin James to write with the young star in the making.

Born into a musical family, Becky Abbott seemed destined to be a performer from the moment she drew her first breath. Her mother, aunt and grandfather are all singers and musicians and some of Becky’s earliest, and fondest, childhood memories are of rehearsals, auditions, family sing-alongs and jam sessions. Blessed with a searing three octave vocal range, Becky has had the privilege and versatility to try almost every musical style she wanted to over the years. But it’s her natural affinity and god given talent for all out rock and roll that has set this stunning singer apart.

While Ottawa is her home, Abbott has already got a taste of the International music scene that awaits her, having made her first trip overseas to perform in the UK and Europe with Juno-nominated guitarist, David Gogo. Their first stop was in London, UK to record a session for BBC Radio 2 at the famous Maida Vale Studio 3 where such legendary performers as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones have recorded over the years. Not bad company to keep for a 23 year old singer.

For the Tucson’s performance, Becky will showcase some of the new, original songs that are slated for her soon to be recorded debut CD.

Don’t miss your chance to see one of Ottawa’s hot, young talents on the rise!!
