Capital Music Conference

I will playing with both THERMOclinE and Tammy Raybould at Barrymore’s Music Hall in Ottawa as part of the Capital Music Conference, both on the same night, June 16th.

I am now using the Sabian Triple Hi-hat, it’s quite cool. I’ve had it for about a month now and I’ve done all my gigs and rehearsals with it. It took a few gigs to get used to it, but it’s cool now, you have to check it out if you haven’t seen it yet.

BANDS ON THE RUN

By Ian Nathanson, Ottawa Sun

WHAT’S UP, DOCS:
If a shoe company is looking to sponsor THERMOclinE, it likely won’t be Doc Marten. Seems to be a sore spot — literally — whenever it’s mentioned to guitarist Aaron Kronis or drummer Andrew Lamarche. In Toronto attending Lollapalooza ’97, Kronis, bassist Jason Young and lead singer Graham Machacek were checking out Artifical Joy Club (Lamarche used to be AJC’s drummer). As fans were throwing objects at the band, Lamarche retaliated by hurling a Doc Marten boot into the crowd, inadvertently knocking Kronis unconscious. “The security guards up front brought him forward and had us go with them backstage to the medical tent,” Young explains. “Then we saw Lamarche walk by and went over to talk to him.” When all was sorted out, Lamarche wound up becoming such good pals with THERMOclinE, he would later become a member. THERMOclinE will perform in a non-shoe-throwing zone at Barrymore’s Saturday to honour the release of their full-length debut, Negative One.

Samples from the New THERMOclinE CD

Samples from the new THERMOclinE CD are now up on the THERMOsitE.

I finally had a chance to get to the Sabian Cymbals factory in Meductic, New Brunswick, on our way back home from some dates in eastern Canada with Tammy Raybould. It was very cool seeing the whole process of how the cymbals are made, and the amount of work and high quality standards they have.

Tammy’s show at Barrymore’s last week will be televised in May, dates will be on the site when I get details.

January Update

After a nice quiet December and the uneventful Y2K stuff, I am hoping things will get busier soon again after a much needed break.

I will be playing with Tammy Raybould tomorrow in Toronto at Lee’s Palace and then on Saturday the 15th at Zaphod’s 2 in Ottawa.

You should be seeing Tammy’s new video soon, director Dennis Beauchamps and crew did a really good job on it.

Donnie Leafloor‘s “The Rainman” CD has been released, the four-song CD features Donnie on vocals and guitar, Mike Yelle from Garrity on bass, Colin Mills on guitar and me on drums; Produced by Jay Ruston and Mastered by Nick Blagona. Updates

Welcome back to andrewlamarche.com, I finally had time to redo the site, and I’m still working on it. I don’t really have a lot of time to do stuff on the site these days because of the hectic schedule with my life and rehearsals and gigs with Tammy and THERMOclinE. My bio is really out of date, so I’m hoping to get that done soon.

THERMOclinE is now working on finishing up the new CD. It looks like it probably won’t be released until about February or March 2000.

Tammy Raybould’s new album “Maybe” is now out on Boulder/Sony records. The first single “Loving You” is getting quite a bit of airplay. The CD Release party is at Barrymore’s on November 19th in Ottawa and November 29th at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.
